Pneumatic mist jet impinging cooling (PMJIC) is a high-efficiency cooling/lubrication technology, which could reduce tool wear and improve production efficiency during cutting titanium alloys. This paper investigates the cooling effect of PMJIC during milling Ti40 alloy using Ti(C,N)–Al 2 .

The milling setup is shown in Fig. 3(a) and the temperature measurement schematic is illustrated in in Fig. 3(d). The measuring thermocouples are placed between two workpieces with the size of 50 mm × 50 mm × 8 mm. Its position is 2 mm far from the workpiece top surface, as displayed in Fig. 3(d). The experimental conditions for milling Ti40 alloy are listed in Table 4.
